Viticulturist Brent Young has been named “Outstanding Young Person In Agri-Business” by the 2011 Sonoma County Harvest Fair. Brent was selected as one of this year’s honorees due to his extensive community service and leadership in the Sonoma County farming community. Winners will receive awards at the Harvest Fair Awards Gala in Santa Rosa on September 24.

Since joining Jordan in 2008, Brent has been instrumental in leading our precision farming initiatives and sustainable vineyard practices. His latest project is overseeing our vineyards’ certification for the new Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing program.

Other community leaders recognized for their contributions to Sonoma County wine, food and agriculture include: Domenico Carinalli Jr., Lifetime Contribution to Agriculture; Oliver’s Market, Friend of Sonoma County Agriculture; and Ryan Petersen, Outstanding Young Farmer.

Capital Press recently published a feature article on Brent’s award, career path and love of farming. The reporter begins by saying, “…it is almost impossible not to feel his passion for the soil and the vines.”

We couldn’t agree more.

Please join us in congratulating Brent on this well-deserved award.
