We’re mourning the loss of our beloved winery pet, Clyde, a pygmy goat who became a part of the Jordan family three years ago. Clyde passed away peacefully on October 29, 2010. He was 13 years old.

Born in Sebastopol, Calif., Clyde worked as a show goat as a kid, touring throughout California. With his great stride and commanding posture, he garnered many ribbons.

In 2007, Clyde retired to the Jordan estate garden, where he excelled as resident landscape architect. Guests who joined our daily tours and tastings had the opportunity to watch Clyde in action, chomping away at native grasses on the hillside behind the winery. He had to be kept on a long leash so he wouldn’t wander into coyote country to graze. An expert lawnmower, Clyde worked hard, loved life and never complained.

Clyde is survived by his good friend Barney, a black pygmy goat who lived with Clyde above the Jordan garden.

We’ll take good care of Barney for you, Clyde.
