Who Drank the Most Cabernet and Chardonnay in 2017? A Jordan Winery Chart of U.S. Wine Consumption

Crunching end-of-year sales numbers is a big task for most businesses. It’s that time at Jordan Winery too. In the spirit of competition, we created a chart of U.S. wine consumption by state, which ranks who drank the most Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon and Jordan Chardonnay 2017. How did your home state do? Did you move up or down in the rankings since 2016? For Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon, the top 10 wine-drinking markets remained unchanged; however, Connecticut, Minnesota, Utah, Washington, Oklahoma and Hawaii all moved up in the charts, with Hawaii making the biggest leap. South Dakota finished last again this year; Virginia, Indiana, Nebraska and Oregon slid, so drink up, friends! For Jordan Chardonnay, Florida and New York and Colorado and Nevada traded places in the top 10 wine-drinking markets. Hawaii, Washington D.C., Rhode Island, New Mexico, New Hampshire, Mississippi and Missouri all moved up; Connecticut, Ohio, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Kentucky and Oregon were down for chardonnay.

Figures included are based on total cases sold January 1-November 30, 2017. (December numbers won’t be available until mid-January, and Maine distribution numbers are not available to us.) Thank you for drinking Jordan and making it a great year. Cheers to more wine tasting in 2018!

Would be more interesting to see Per capita, otherwise it gets so skewed by state population.
